Beyond Jazz is a collective of musicians well versed in a wide-ranging category of musical genres, including Jazz, Fusion, Rock, Blues, Funk, Classical and others. The ensemble is able to bring these varied influences to the spontaneous jam process of collaborative creation. Deeply listening to each other’s musical ideas and responding by contributing further musical ideas, moves the conversation forward and takes it to a non forethought conclusion. It is a similar process to having a group discussion with friends, but here the language is music. The result is music that is hard to define. It is both genre-bending, and many times, genre-defying. It can be said with certainty that it is Beyond Jazz
